Tattoos as a Form of Body Modification

The sixties are back in the 21st century, well, that is with focus on the changing trends among the urban youth of today’s Western society. Today’s youth are taking it to the extreme when it comes to the question of body modification. This is to express their individuality in the generalized society of today. The types of  body modification  vary from society to society but the most common are scarification, piercings and tattoos. Of the three, tattoos are the most common. Body art has propagated into a culture on its own, inspiring clothing and lifestyles. Moreover, it is as varied as the societies of the world. It is quite popular in that the founder and creator of BMA Modified has extensive tattoos and is making it in the fashion world.

Body art has been there for centuries. The ancient Samoan tribes etched tattoos on their bodies to show social status and for beauty purposes. The ancient Chinese also etched tattoos on their bodies especially in their triad organizations to show authority. This practice evolved into today’s tattoo  body modification  industry. Tattoos are of two types, temporary stick on tattoos and the permanent epidermal tattoos. The former are available at department stores and fade after some time. However, the latter are inked in by use of a needle gun and are permanent marks. They are very detailed and many art lovers can attest to the design wonders achievable in the modern tattoo industry.

In addition, the art associated with tattoos has spread to clothing and even auto body shops. Clothing designers are putting original tattoo art on clothing and vehicle painters are also doing the same on the vehicle bodies. As inspiring as they are, tattoos as a form of  body modification also require a lot of care. All instruments used must be sterilized entirely, needles replaced and bandages used to prevent infection.
